Polymer LED emits polarized light

The first polarized emission from a light-emitting diode (LED) was recently obtained using a polymer-based device. The LED consists of a stretched, substituted polythiophene film sandwiched between two thin-film electrodes on a glass substrate (see Fig. 1).
