For 2020, Gentec-EO (Quebec City, QC, Canada) has launched the 2020 Laser Lab Awards contest. Twelve winners will receive one of the five laser beam measurement kits of their choice among a selection of products made by Gentec-EO. The contest ends on March 31, 2020.

The 2020 Gentec-EO Laser Lab Awards contest aims to support optics laboratories in universities and colleges by ensuring students have access to the same quality measurement instruments that are used today in the industry. For its first edition, the contest is only open to organizations in the United States of America.

Applicants, who must be in a role where they provide instruction through laboratory demonstrations or experiments at a university or college, should describe how they intend to use the Gentec-EO material in their laboratory and elaborate on the physics principles their students will learn with this material.

When entering the contest, applicants choose the prize they are the most interested in among five high-end laser beam measurement kits from Gentec-EO, each worth between $1200 and $4200. The products offered range from laser power and energy measurement solutions to laser beam profiling cameras.

Winners will be selected by the Gentec-EO Laser Lab Awards team based on several criteria such as: the intended use of the requested product, the number of students who will use it and their eligibility to enter the contest.

Applicants have until March 31 to submit their application on the Gentec-EO website. The company will announce one winner every month for 12 months.
