OCT: noninvasive imaging for many purposes

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) takes advantage of the properties of coherent light to create 2D or 3D noninvasive images of turbid or otherwise semitransparent media. With resolution down to a micron and penetration depths of up to a few millimeters, this technique is widely used in the medical field, and is also finding use in industrial applications such as process control. This e-digest highlights a few of these applications as well as the technology behind OCT.
