• OpVista debuts optical networking system for 40G and 100G
  June 9, 2008--The OpVista CX8 dense multi-carrier optical technology will debut at NXTcomm08 in Vegas.
• Varioptic's liquid lens brings variable focus to commercial CMOS camera
  May 30, 2008--Varioptic ( Lyon, France) announced that its variable focus liquid lens has been embedded inside IVA's (www.ivacorp.com) 2 Megapixel CMOS digital camera, the IVIN2M-ETH. This new camera features a CMOS imager with selectable display resolution up to 1600 x1200 incorporating a progressive scan sensor with an electronic rolling shutter. At 37 mm x 37 mm, it is a low-power, high-performance CMOS image acquisition device.
• Curved display changes solo viewer's world
  May 21, 2008--Although not suited for a large audience, an ultra-wide curved display from Ostendo Technologies (Carlsbad, CA) creates a more-immersive world for one or a small group of close-up viewers.
• Microvision to unveil PicoP-based products at SID 2008
  May 16, 2008--Microvision (Redmond, WA), provider of ultra-miniature projection display and image capture products for mobility applications, will showcase multiple PicoP-enabled pre-commercial prototypes and engineering demonstrators representing recent developments it has made in collaboration with its manufacturing and supply-chain partners at the Society for Information Display (SID) annual conference in Los Angeles, CA May 19-23.
• UniPixel will debut TMOS display prototypes at SID 2008
  May 16, 2008--Uni-Pixel (The Woodlands, TX), developer of a color display technology called time-multiplexed optical shutter (TMOS), plans to showcase its TMOS display prototypes at SID's DisplayWeek 2008, May 19-23 in Los Angeles, CA, marking the company's first public demonstration of the TMOS flat-panel display prototypes.

• Coherent introduces first fiber-based high-power picosecond laser for industrial applications
  May 8, 2007, San Jose, CA--At CLEO, Coherent, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) launched their first fiber-based laser--a high-power picosecond laser for micromachining.
• Bookham acquires laser controller from Precision Photonics for New Focus product line
  May 5, 2008, San Jose, CA--Bookham has acquired the LB1005 High-Speed Servo Controller product line from Precision Photonics Corporation (PPC). Through the New Focus product line, the LB1005 will be available immediately to the scientific laser community, adding to the company's established line of tunable and single- frequency lasers.
• Corning introduces new ruggedized industrial fiber
