March 11, 2008, Oxford, England-- ThruVision, a spinout company of the Science and Technology Facility Council Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), has developed an imaging technology that can "see" explosives, liquids, narcotics, weapons, plastics and ceramics hidden under clothing from 25 m. The T5000 passive terahertz imaging system should drastically improve security at high-profile sites and uniquely, at outdoor venues such as sporting arenas.

Luna announces the Phoenix 1000 tunable laser based on the former Iolon "Apollo" laser
March 7, 2008, Blacksburg, VA--Luna Technologies announced its Phoenix 1000 tunable laser at OFC/NFOEC 2008. Luna's microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)-based, external cavity laser is based on the former Iolon 'Apollo' class of tunable lasers and offers low noise and precise tuning capability over the C-band. Luna Technologies is a division of Luna Innovations (Roanoke, VA).
