    September 29, 2008--Georgia Tech's new Center for Bio-Imaging Mass Spectrometry (BIMS) allows researchers to visualize the spatial arrangement and relative abundance of specific molecules--from simple metabolites to peptides and proteins--in biological samples. The center includes biologists, chemists, and engineers whose goal is to unravel the molecular complexities of biological systems.
  • NanoMarkets report says OLED lighting markets will reach $4.5 billion by 2013
    September 26, 2008--According to a new report from industry analyst firm NanoMarkets (Glen Allen, VA), the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) lighting market will reach almost $4.5 billion dollars by 2013 and grow to $5.9 billion by 2015. The firm claims that in the past year the prospects for OLED lighting have made great leaps forward due to improvements in OLED performance and manufacturing.

  • Army hero credits Edmund Optics for saving lives in Iraq War
    September 23, 2008--An American hero out of the Iraq war recently thanked Edmund Optics (EO; Barrington, NJ) for enhancing the safety of U.S. combat forces through advanced technology. Silver Star recipient Sergeant First Class Sean Bennett pointed to EO's advanced technologies as key contributors to the effectiveness and safety of U.S. ground forces in combat missions.
  • Stevens Institute of Technology awarded $2.365 million to investigate multi-spectrum sensor
    September 23, 2008--An interdisciplinary team of professors from Stevens Institute of Technology (Hoboken, NJ) were awarded $2.365 million to conduct research for a U.S. Army Research, Development, and Engineering Command Armament Research Center (RDECOM-ARDEC) National Small Arms Center (NSAC) Task Order Sub-Agreement (TOSA), titled "A Standalone/Networked Compact, Low Power, Image-fused, Multi-spectrum Sensor System for Target Acquisitions, Tracking and Fire Control."
