• Edmund Optics introduces blackened optics
  March 30, 2007, Barrington, NJ--Edmund Optics is now offering edge-blackened optics, which can increase contrast and reduce noise in imaging and electro-optical systems. The blackened edges prevent light from exiting a mounted optic, reflecting off the optical mount, re-entering the optic, and then causing stray-light problems as it passes through the optical assembly.
• Philips Lumileds releases LUXEON Rebel power LED

• Semrock introduces fluorescence filter sets for quantum dots
  March 23, 2007, Rochester, NY--Contributing to the growing use of quantum dots in biophotonics, Semrock has unveiled single-band fluorescence filter sets optimized for the most popular quantum-dot nanocrystals.
• QED Technologies announces new metrology tool for aspheres
  March 14, 2007, Rochester, NY--QED Technologies has commercially introduced an aspheric version of its SSI (Subaperture Stitching Interferometry) tool, called the SSI-A. Both the SSI and the SSI-A can measure the surface shape of optical surfaces much larger than the aperture of the tool by taking many smaller overlapping measurements and then stitching them together in software.
• Horiba's diffraction particle-size analyzer is a cinch to use
  March 9, 2007, Irvine, CA--Horiba has introduced a second generation of its laser-diffraction particle-size analyzer, the Partica LA-950. A redesign of a number of components has strengthened capabilities in speed, dynamic range, accuracy, and precision. The instrument can measure the particle size and range of dry powders as well as particles in liquid solutions.
• QPC Lasers ships eye-safe laser engines to US defense contractors
  February 21, 2007, Sylmar, CA--QPC Lasers has developed and shipped high-brightness semiconductor laser engines to two US defense contractors for high-energy laser weapons development at eye-safe wavelengths. The deliveries are important milestones in QPC's ongoing contract with the US Army .
• Novaled intensifies development of top emitting OLEDs
  February 14, 2007, Dresden, Germany--Novaled has announced lifetimes for blue OLEDs up to 16,000 hours, for red and green up to 100,000 hours at an initial brightness of 500 cd/m?.
• Lumics announces release of pulsed seeder laser unit
  February 7, 2007, Berlin, Germany--Lumics has announced the release of the LU1064K1001 pulsed seeder laser unit with an optical output of 1W peak power from single mode fiber.
• NP Photonics introduces vibration-insensitive single-frequency fiber laser
  February 2, 2007, Tucson, AZ--In addition to its 3000 technical presentations, Photonics West 2007 (January 21-26; San Jose, CA) dished out technology in the form of solid new commercial products. One example of this is a stable, single-frequency fiber laser unveiled by NP Photonics; emphasizing insensitivity to vibration, the company terms the laser "The Rock" (although it looks more like a small brick).
