  • RPO Introduces Digital Waveguide Touch technology at SID
May 18, 2007, Canberra, Australia--RPO has unveiled what it calls Digital Waveguide Touch (DWT), a photonic form of touch-screen technology. The technology is intended for cell phones, PDAs, tablets, industrial displays and other information-systems applications.
  • Coherent unveils carrier-envelope-phase stabilized ultrafast laser
May 11, 2007, Santa Clara, CA--An ultrafast laser introduced by Coherent, the Micra-CEP, generates carrier-envelope-phase (CEP) stabilized ultrafast laser pulses.
  • SUI introduces compact snapshot InGaAs SWIR video camera
May 10, 2007, Princeton, NJ--Sensors Unlimited, Inc. (SUI; part of Goodrich Corporation) is introducing a family of snapshot video cameras. The SU320KTS-1.7RT indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) shortwave infrared (SWIR) Camera provides high response from 0.9 micron to 1.7 micron, and the SU320KTSVis-1.7RT Visible-InGaAs SWIR Camera provides extended wavelength response into the visible from 0.4 micron to 1.7 micron.
  • Photon's M2 profiler is real-time (and does single-shot measurements)
May 4, 2007, San Jose, CA--Photon has unveiled a laser-beam-profiling system that measures M2 (beam quality) and all associated ISO 11146 parameters in real time.
  • Lumics announces pump source with 1 kW optical power
April 25, 2007, Berlin Germany--Lumics has announced a high power pump diode laser source with 1 kW of optical output power. The device is based on multiple single emitter laser diode modules. The 19" rack mount unit is offered with a watercooling system and driver electronics. The output power is delivered from optical fibers and can be customized into fiber bundles or pump combiners.
  • Thermoteknix launches shutterless FPA camera
April 20, 2007, Cambridge, England--Thermoteknix has launched what it says is the world's first alpha-silicon-based focal-plane-array (FPA) thermal-imaging camera with shutterless technology.
  • Inverter provides high power for displays requiring cold starts
April 18, 2007, Endicott, NY--The new E220 Series DC-AC inverter from Endicott Research Group (ERG) combines up to 12 watts of output power with ERG's unique vacuum-encapsulated design to ensure reliable cold cathode fluorescent (CCF) lamp ignition for liquid crystal displays (LCDs) used in outside, cold storage or other low-temperature environments.
  • New Scale miniaturizes its cryogenic motor
April 13, 2007, Victor, NY--Automated alignment of small optics at cryogenic temperatures has now become easier, thanks to a tiny cryogenic motor unveiled by New Scale Technologies.
  • Micro Photonics to market scanning probe microscopy instrument
April 11, 2007, Irvine, CA--Micro Photonics will begin marketing the new SPM ProberStation 150, which combines three dimensional inspection and modern optical microscopy in a vision inspection system, for fast, highly repeatable atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning probe microscopy (SPM) studies.
