Vitex begins volume production of polymer OLED microdisplays
August 20, 2007, San Jose, CA--Vitex Systems, a technology developer, licensor and engineering service provider for thin-film encapsulation and moisture barrier films used in flexible electronic products and displays, announced that its customer and licensee, Microemissive Displays (Edinburgh, Scotland), has commenced volume production and commercial shipment of its polymer-based OLED microdisplays.

Plasma display revenue to peak in 2008
August 10, 2007, El Segundo, CA--According to market analysis firm iSuppli, plasma display panel (PDP) manufacturers are finding it increasingly difficult to keep pace with liquid crystal displays (LCDs) in the consumer and business markets. Although falling average selling prices are enabling PDPs to enjoy a growth phase, this period of growth will be short lived, with those same price declines causing market revenue to begin falling in 2009 following a peak in 2008.

ART to collaborate with Stanford on optical breast imaging studies
August 8, 2007, Montreal, Canada--ART Advanced Research Technologies, a Canadian medical device company that specializes in optical molecular imaging products for the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, has entered into an agreement to develop and conduct clinical research with the Stanford Breast Imaging Section of Stanford University to evaluate the effectiveness of the company's SoftScan optical breast imaging system in treatment monitoring and diagnosis of breast cancer.

World's largest 'thermometer camera' sees first light
August 7, 2007, near San Pedro de Atacama, Chile--The world's largest bolometer camera for submillimeter astronomy is now in service at the 12-m APEX telescope, located on the 5100 m high Chajnantor plateau in the Chilean Andes. LABOCA (LArge BOlometer Camera) was specifically designed for the study of extremely cold astronomical objects and will open new vistas in our knowledge of how stars form and how the first galaxies emerged from the Big Bang.

TRUMPF sees double-digit growth
July 24, 2007, Ditzingen, Germany--On June 30th the TRUMPF Group closed the books on its 2006/07 fiscal year. Sales grew by 18 percent to $2.68 billion dollars and order received increased by about 16% to $2.83 billion dollars. All data is preliminary; the company will announce the final figures during its annual press briefing conference in mid-October 2007.
