    September 14, 2007, Wilsonville, OR--FLIR Systems announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a controlling interest in Cedip Infrared Systems (Croissy-Beaubourg, France), a leading provider of infrared cameras and stabilized gimbaled systems. For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2006, Cedip reported revenue of approximately $25.1 million and operating income of approximately $4.3 million.

    September 4, 2007, Oxford, MA--According to a press release from Business Wire, IPG Photonics Corporation announced that it was awarded a $3.8 million contract from the U.S. Navy to supply the Naval Warfare Surface Center with a 44 kilowatt fiber laser system. The contract expands IPG's presence in government applications.

  • Intense signs contract with ESA for high-power laser diode arrays
    August 28, 2007, Glasgow, Scotland--Semiconductor laser manufacturer Intense announced a new R&D contract with the European Space Agency (Noordwijk, Netherlands). Called PULSAR (PUmp Laser Stacks with Aerospace Reliability), the contract is for the development of reliable, high-power, high-efficiency laser diode arrays for solid-state laser pumping applications in space.
  • Carolinas Photonics Consortium announces funding for new technology projects
    August 24, 2007, Clemson, SC--The Carolinas Photonics Consortium (CPC) has announced the CPC Pilot Funding Program that will award five emerging photonics projects with seed funding for commercialization and business development support. The five CPC member institutions are Clemson University, Duke University, North Carolina State University, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Western Carolina University. Proposals will be accepted from researchers at the five campuses.
  • DARPA selects Goodrich for imaging systems contract
    August 23, 2007, Charlotte, NC--DARPA has selected Goodrich Corporation for the development of InGaAs visible and shortwave-infrared focal-plane arrays for use in passive night-vision imaging systems.
  • FLIR Systems wins $20 million sensor order from U.S. Navy
    August 21, 2007, Portland, OR--FLIR Systems has been awarded a $20 million order from the U.S. Navy for a variant of its SeaFLIR III stabilized, lightweight multi-sensor systems. This order was made pursuant to a previously awarded five-year, $75 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract. SeaFLIR III is a multi-sensor thermal imaging system that operates from maritime, surface and airborne platforms.
