August 10, 2006, Irvine, CA--Toshiba Imaging Systems Division of Toshiba America is introducing a 2048 x 1536 pixel output resolution, 3-chip, color CCD camera. The IK-TF9C is the first mega pixel high-speed camera using 3 CCD color technology, according to Toshiba.
  • Ambient light sensor development kit simplifies design efforts
August 9, 2006, Malvern, PA--In a move to reduce time to market for designers using its ambient light sensors, Vishay Intertechnology today announced a new light sensing development kit that allows development engineers to measure and display ambient illumination, tune the sensor, define their software program responses, and complete a hardware layout. The development kit supports Vishay's recently introduced ambient light sensor portfolio.
  • Asylum Research NanoIndenter integrates with AFM optical detector
July 19, 2006, Santa Barbara, CA--Asylum Research has unveiled its NanoIndenter module for use with the company's MFP-3D atomic-force-microscope (AFM) system. The NanoIndenter is a tool for materials research that allows controlled physical contact and elastic and inelastic deformation of a nano-sized area of a specimen (a triangular nanoindent can be seen in the figure).
  • Ambient light sensor offers "human eye" characteristics
June 28,2006, San Jose, CA--OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' newest ambient light sensor, (ALS) SFH5711, designed for the mobile device market, accurately matches or imitates the sensitivity curve of the human eye.
  • Omicron diode laser modulates deeply
June 27, 2006, Rodgau, Germany--Omicron has introduced a diode laser that has what the company says is almost infinite modulation capability. The laser, called the Deepstar, does not show any residual fluorescence content in the "off" moments while being modulated, even at very high modulation rates. The temperature-stabilized diode laser can be modulated at greater than 100 MHz.
