• 3-channel LED ballaster provides 3000:1 dimming for up to 24 LEDs
  December 14, 2006, Milpitas, CA--Linear Technology is introducing the LT3003, a LED ballaster that drives three separate strings of LEDs with 3% accurate current matching, delivering uniform LED brightness. The LT3003 is capable of driving up to 24 LEDs at 350 mA each -- three strings of 8 LEDs each -- making it ideal for backlighting a wide variety of TFT-LCDs and heads-up display applications.
• Id Quantique's near-IR single-photon counter has 25% efficiency
  December 12, 2006, Geneva, Switzerland--A single-photon counter with adjustable efficiency up to 25% (controlled by adjusting the bias voltage) will be demonstrated by id Quantique at the coming BIOS and Photonics West exhibitions (January 20-25, 2007; San Jose, CA).The efficiency is adjustable to optimize it for specific applications.
