NASA seeks Nd:YAG laser partner for ICESat II mission

June 20, 2008--Under Solicitation Number ICE-SatIIRFI2008, (posted on June 13, 2008 and with a required response date of June 30, 2008), the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Laser and Electro-Optics Branch is currently seeking an industry partner to assist with the laser development on the upcoming ICESat II mission. The purpose of this RFI is to solicit specific capability information from industry/aerospace on diode-pumped short-pulse Nd:YAG laser suppliers for capability assessment.

A short description of the ICESat-II mission can be found at http://nasascience.nasa.gov/missions/icesat-ii .

Interested organizations are invited to submit to the NASA point of contact listed below a description of their diode-pumped short-pulse Nd:YAG laser technical and resource/facility capabilities relevant to air and space applications. This submittal should also describe the organization's experience and past performance in the areas of air and space-based laser systems.
