Varioptic's liquid lens brings variable focus to commercial CMOS camera
May 30, 2008--Varioptic ( Lyon, France) announced that its variable focus liquid lens has been embedded inside IVA's (www.ivacorp.com) 2 Megapixel CMOS digital camera, the IVIN2M-ETH. This new camera features a CMOS imager with selectable display resolution up to 1600 x1200 incorporating a progressive scan sensor with an electronic rolling shutter. At 37 mm x 37 mm, it is a low-power, high-performance CMOS image acquisition device.
The IVIN2M-ETH integrates the latest Varioptic variable focus liquid lens, Arctic 314, allowing "close up" to infinity focus control with no moving parts. The user has complete real-time dynamic control over focus during operation with the software GUI supplied with the camera, or set in the auto-focus mode for completely automatic focus.
Varioptic's Arctic 314 has been especially designed to match the requirements of low footprint systems, for both 1/4 inch and 1/3 inch formats. It is ideal for the latest camera applications such as video continuous auto focus which requires fast response time, low power consumption, and high reliability in harsh industrial environments.
