High-Power Laser Diode with Volume Bragg Grating
Cranfield, UK, February 20, 2004. Pro-Lite Technology has released preliminary information on the Axcel Photonics LambdaLok high-power laser diode series encompassing a Volume Bragg Grating to ensure narrowed line-widths and 30 times improved wavelength stability with temperature compared to raw diodes.
These diodes currently offered at 785, 808 and 976nm are ideal pump sources for solid-state lasers and Raman Spectroscopy. The VBG "locks" the wavelength and narrows the spectral line-width to typically 0.3nm with a temperature coefficient 0.01nm per degree C.
Axcel Photonics manufactures laser diodes from 785nm to 980nm both single-mode emitters from 3 micron aperture and broad area multimode emitters 50-460 micron. Axcel's proprietary facet passivation has led to substantially higher optical flux densities before damage and Axcel's single-mode emitters are achieving 150mW ? 500mW depending on wavelength and 20-40mW per micron stripe width from their multimode series. Recent data has shown 15W output from a 100 micron 965nm emitter prior to COD.
