Newport Facility Achieves ISO 9001 Registration
Irvine, CA. March 11, 2003. Newport's Chandler, AZ facility has achieved ISO 9001 registration. The facility, which is part of Newport's Advanced Packaging and Automation Systems Division (APAS) completed its initial assessment of conformance to ISO 9001:1994, and the British Standards Institution (BSI) consequently recommended registration of the facility's quality system.
In making the announcement, Kevin Crofton, Vice President and General Manager of APAS, said, "Newport's dedicated Chandler team invested many hours of planning, implementing and training, auditing and adjusting, as well as working through a week-long assessment by BSI. They have built an effective, well-documented quality system. It's an achievement that underscores Newport's ongoing commitment to quality, and advances the direction and impetus of Newport's overall quality program."
Crofton continued "This achievement will significantly advance the competitiveness and unmatched quality of our photonics packaging technologies, since we are transitioning our photonics packaging manufacturing to the Chandler facility. By achieving ISO 9001 certification, Newport has again proven that we can provide our customers with differentiated offerings in engineering and manufacturing solutions."
