Seminar Speaker to Discuss Security Technologies
Nashua, NH, November 7, 2002 -- Dennis Killinger of the University of South Florida will be the keynote speaker at the 2003 Laser Focus World Marketplace Seminar, to be held January 27 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, CA. Killinger will provide an overview of market and technology-development opportunities in homeland security, including point and remote chemical and biological and nuclear material sensors, secure optical communication links, visible and infrared imaging, surveillance systems, and local decontamination guidance.
Other presentations during the day-long event will include review and forecast of global-laser markets, industrial-laser markets, the semiconductor laser market, and the medical-laser market. Tom Hausken, an analyst with Strategies Unlimited (Mountain View, CA), will discuss the current chaos in the telecom market and the potential for the future of this business.
Additional seminar highlights include "Market Challenges and Risks for Ultrafast Laser Processing," presented by Andreas Ostendorf of Laser Zentrum Hannover; "The Promise and Challenge of Solid-State Lighting," presented by George Craford of Lumileds Lighting; and "Beyond the Telecom Bubble: Applying Photonics Technologies to Non-Telecom Markets," presented by Tim Day of New Focus.
As usual, the seminar will present the findings of the annual Laser Focus World review and forecast, providing expanded market data and analysis made available only to seminar attendees.
