System measures GRIN lenses with a variety of face angles
The SpectraMet automated inspection system for GRIN lenses from Scion Photonics (Valencia, CA) allows lens quality checks prior to assembly. Once a lens is loaded onto the holding fixture, it is automatically clocked and measurements are acquired on diameter, length at centerline, and angle of each face. All measurement data can then be recorded and/or downloaded to a network. In addition, the system platform can be adapted to address specific handling requirements from manual load to automatic pick and place. Adding flexibility is system software that allows the user to create and save multiple part setup files. Dialog boxes allow easy entry of system parameters for each product.
