Gary Wiese received the MS degree in Optical Sciences in 1974 from the University of Arizona. He spent 38+ years in optical design and engineering, most of that time in the development of military infrared fire control optics for Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin Corp. He is a founding member and co-chair of the SPIE IR Materials Standards Working Group and ASC OP/TF6. He holds six patents on visible and IR optical design.
