Bellingham, WA, and Charlottesville, VA--SPIE has selected Silverchair Information Systems to host the SPIE Digital Library, a research resource on optics and photonics, on its SCM6 semantic product development and hosting platform, effective June 2012.
The SPIE Digital Library offers more than 320,000 technical papers from SPIE Journals and Conference Proceedings from 1990 to the present and more than 150 SPIE Press books. SPIE publishes approximately 17,000 new technical papers and 15 to 20 new books in the SPIE Digital Library each year.
On Silverchair’s SCM6 platform, the SPIE Digital Library will have new features that will assist researchers. SCM6 will enable SPIE to draw connections between topically related information across the SPIE corpus, link to valuable content from other sources of interest to the researchers who use the database, and facilitate user personalization, says Eric Pepper, SPIE director of publications.
The SCM6 platform supports scientific, technical, and medical (STM) and scholarly publishers, societies, and other organizations to deliver the full array of content formats, functionality, and personalized user experience required by today’s rapidly changing information marketplace.
