The DeepSee technology for multiphoton imaging from Spectra-Physics, a division of Newport Corp., has earned U.S. patent 7,962,046.

Santa Clara, CA--The DeepSee technology for multiphoton imaging from Spectra-Physics, a division of Newport Corp., has earned U.S. patent 7,962,046. Used in both the Mai Tai DeepSee and InSight DeepSee ultrafast lasers, the technology enables automated, deep 3-D imaging of live tissue in neuroscience, cell biology, and other advanced biological applications. The new patent expands the company’s portfolio of patents covering ultrafast laser technologies.

The DeepSee technology is widely used in multiphoton imaging for automated pre-compensation of ultrafast laser pulses for optical dispersion in microscopes, thereby delivering the shortest possible pulses and highest peak power to the sample. This results in significantly enhanced image quality and deeper imaging penetration into tissue in vivo.
