Rochester, NY--High-precision polymer optics supplier G-S Plastic Optics (GSPO) has completed installation of its Class 10,000 cleanroom at its Rochester, NY corporate facility, enabling the company to meet a number of heightened program demands.

With the new, 200-sq-ft. cleanroom facility now in operation, GSPO can meet the growing need for producing specialized products that require rigorous air contamination control. This specialized work area will monitor flow rate and direction of the air; maintain pressure, temperature, and humidity; and offer a finely tuned filtration system. And to support strict production and assembly regulations, the addition of up to six employees is slated for the near future.

Chris Smock, director of operations at GSPO, states that the company is experiencing growth in optical markets that require assemblies that combine the company's ability to mold, machine, and coat plastic optics, with the ability to assemble multi-element optical assemblies in a controlled environment. “Introducing a ‘pure’ assembly environment on-site will not only ensure operational efficiency and delivery times for our customers, but also the high quality production standards that they have come to expect from us,” he says.

GSPO’s new cleanroom will keep the company abreast of the stringent quality regulations required for optical assembly in many applications, including commercial, military, and medical.
