LightWorks Optics names Michael Minailo president and CEO

Tustin, CA--LightWorks Optics has named Michael Minailo as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Tustin, CA--LightWorks Optics, a provider of advanced optical design engineering and production solutions for precision assemblies and optical systems and components, has named Michael Minailo as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. In this new role, Minailo will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for sustained growth in the aerospace and defense market segments, as well as expanded positioning in the commercial, medical device and biomedical market segments.

"This is an era of new directions and growth for LightWorks Optics," said the company's cofounder, Dan Barber. "Michael's history in leading strategic growth in organizations and his depth of expertise within the medical device markets, global market development, and marketing and finance, are an ideal fit for helping us take our strengths in innovative technology development to a whole new level. We are delighted that Michael has agreed to lead our team."

Minailo joins LightWorks Optics with over 20 years of executive management expertise in strategic growth and global market penetration within the life sciences and technology industries. Prior to joining LightWorks Optics, Minailo served as Managing Director for The Sun2ice Group, providing interim executive leadership to early stage and developing medical device and technology-based companies. Previously he served as President and CEO of Millennium Dental Technologies, an international medical device company that markets and manufactures Nd:YAG lasers and therapies.

Minailo holds an MBA with a focus in marketing, finance and international business from the University of Southern California, where he also received the Albert T. Quon Award for top scholastic and academic achievement.
