Celebrating its 10th anniversary with exhibitors from 20 countries, LASER World of Photonics China was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Cente from March 17-19. In the past 10 years, the number of exhibitors has grown from 163 in 2006, to 715 in 2015, and the exhibition area has increased from 6,000 sq m to a record-breaking 36,960 sq m. Visitor numbers have also grown--starting with 8,557 visitors in 2006, the trade fair attracted 40,291 visitors in 2015.
Reinhard Pfeiffer, Deputy CEO of Messe München International, which organized the trade fair, praised the achievement: "LASER World of Photonics has developed into one of the most important trade fairs in Asia for both international and Chinese companies. The 22% increase in international exhibitors this year demonstrates the high interest of international laser and photonics manufacturers in the Chinese market.”
The trade fair focused on four major areas: lasers and photonics, laser processing, optics and optical manufacturing, and imaging and testing. Industrial laser processing covered laser applications in automotive, metal processing, shipbuilding, aerospace, military and defense, manufacturing, material processing, automation, mould, plastics, and electronics. Exhibitors included 117 companies in machine vision technology, complementing the industrial value chain of laser processing and offering users an integrated solution for vision-guided laser processing.
Photonics Congress China, held concurrently with the trade show, featured sessions on industrial laser processing, advanced lasers, optics, IR imaging, laser safety, and light beam analysis. In addition, the 10th National Conference on Laser Technology and Optoelectronics, and the China Optoelectronic Industry and Technology Summit Forum were also held, along with several other technical forums and workshops. The conferences together attracted approximately 2300 participants.
