Optoscribe, which develops and fabricates 3D optical waveguide technology for optical communications, is moving to new, larger to new facilities. The new location in Livingston, Scotland includes a cleanroom with additional office space and room for further expansion.

"Being based in the Alba Innovation Centre was a good starting point; however the expansion was a necessary and major step for the company," says Nick Psaila, CEO of Optoscribe. "The move will allow us to increase our production capacity as we continue to develop new products."

Optoscribe is currently recruiting for new positions and will continue to do so over the course of 2014.

The company has developed 3D embedded optical waveguides allow the fabrication of devices that Optoscribe says are impossible to produce using solely planar technologies; 3D waveguides create new possibilities for integration. "We use proven and tested manufacturing processes to enable simple volume scalability and ensure that our products are designed to meet the needs of the telecommunications markets," says Optoscribe.

Optoscribe was founded in 2010, formed as a spin-out from the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot Watt University. The company's new location, Livingston, is located between the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
