Southampton, England--Designer and manufacturer of specialty optical fiberFibercore appointed Aurélien Bergonzo to its executive management team as Head of Strategy and New Markets to identify and capitalize on new growth opportunities. Fibercore says that Bergonzo brings a wealth of scientific, strategic, and business acumen in the fields of optical fiber, components, and systems for high-technology markets and applications.
Throughout his career Bergonzo has demonstrated a strong adaptability and ability to manage cross-functional teams and multidisciplinary projects. He has held several positions in R&D, project, and program management as well as business, marketing, and strategy within such companies as Alcatel-Lucent, Oclaro (ex Avanex), Draka, and Prysmian Group.
Prior to joining Fibercore, Bergonzo was product line manager at Prysmian Group defining and implementing the strategy for the commercial development of specialty fiber activities in value-added markets such as aerospace, medical, energy, and telecom--in applications such as sensing or smart grids.
Bergonzo has a PhD in Optics and Electronics (Advanced Tuneable Semiconductors and Lasers) and has written or contributed to several papers, presentations, conferences and patents. In addition, he has an MBA from HEC Paris as well as a Major of Management in an Energy-concerned Economy (HEC-Doha Qatar Foundation).
