It can include spinning disc technology for simultaneous multifluorescent detection. The system has a footprint of 40 × 25 cm and includes a high-sensitivity CMOS camera, temperature control, and a choice of removable laser block.

NanoSight announces the launch of the NS300 providing a platform for enhanced fluorescence and rheological applications

Salisbury, UK, 5th March 2013:NanoSight reports on the new NS300 system based on their Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis technology. The NS300 utilizes the latest version of NanoSight's particle characterization technology, Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA). This elegant new instrument offers all the unique benefits scientists have come to expect from NanoSight in an easy to use and compact format.

The NS300 can visualize and measure particles in suspension in the size range 10-2000 nm (depending on material) and addresses the needs of a wide variety of applications including protein aggregation, exosome and microvesicle research, drug delivery systems, characterizes materials under the new EU Definition of Nanomaterials, and is particularly suited to analysis of particles labelled with fluorescent quantum dots.

This latest NanoSight instrument provides multi-faceted analysis that now includes spinning disc technology enabling simultaneous multi-fluorescent detection, as well as a rheology feature that can measure viscosity in the range 0-5 centipoise. With a footprint measuring just 40 cm long by 25 cm wide, the NS300 is packed with NanoSight's latest developments. It comes complete with a high sensitivity CMOS camera, temperature control, a choice of laser block and can be upgraded to include the spinning disc. It complements the NanoSight family of instruments by providing an answer to researchers whose laboratory space is at a premium without compromising on quality or functionality.

A new top plate and laser module block are removable to enable easy cleaning and assembly. The top plate comes with a replaceable sample chamber designed with a special stem to enable removal without having to handle the sensitive sample area. Patrick Hole, NanoSight's head of product development, says of the new instrument "The NS300 is the natural progression from the NS500 and LM10. It takes the most popular features of these instruments and combines them into an easy to use compact format. We then added in all the latest developments we have been working on including the high capacity motorised fluorescence disc. This unit, capable of being programmed from within the software to address up to six different fluorescent filters, will facilitate the more rapid assessment of fluorophores using the appropriate filters and gives users the possibility of being able to analyze each fluorescence population in terms of size and concentration."

NanoSight has installed more than 500 systems worldwide with users including BASF, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, Proctor and Gamble, Roche and Unilever together with the most eminent universities and research institutes. NanoSight's technology is validated by 600+ third party papers citing results obtained using NTA. NanoSight's leadership position in nanoparticle characterization is consolidated further with publication of an ASTM International standard, ASTM E2834, which describes the NTA methodology for detection and analysis of nanoparticles.
