Glasgow, Scotland--M Squared Lasers has appointed two new directors, David Vettese and Alan Porter, in response to the company's growth in 2012.
Vettese joins the company as sales director, a position he formerly held at near-to-eye (NTE) microdisplay supplier Forth Dimensions Displays (Fife, Scotland). Vettese, who will be based in Glasgow, will oversee existing sales staff in the US and agents throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Porter will assume the role of financial director, following his five years at software manufacturers Graham Technology and Sword Ciboodle (Renfrewshire, Scotland).
The company's lasers and photonic instruments are used in such applications as explosives detection and biomedicines. Around 50% of its sales are from North America, where it opened a subsidiary in Silicon Valley in 2011. A further 30% originates in Asia, from Japan, China, and Korea, where the company works with third-party distributors.
In November 2012, the company was confirmed as the fastest-growing technology company in Scotland following the results of Deloitteâs Technology Fast 50 program, which showed growth topping 1600% over the previous 5 years.
