Acousto-optic device company Isomet mourns loss of Everett Taylor

Springfield, VA--In September of 2012, Everett Taylor, VP of sales for acousto-optic device manufacturer Isomet, passed away after a brave fight with cancer.   

Springfield, VA--Isomet CEO Mike Hiller writes that inSeptember of 2012, Everett Taylor, VP of sales for Isomet Corporation, passed away after a brave fight with cancer. He will be sorely missed by colleagues and friends alike.

Ev Taylor joined Isomet Corporation on April 26, 1971. Prior to Isomet, he was an Electronics Technician in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965 then attended the School of Engineering at the University of Hartford.

From his first assignment in Quality Control with Isomet, Taylor progressed within the organization to the position of vice president, acousto-optic sales. He was well respected throughout the laser industry at home and abroad.

Taylor attended and exhibited at the Photonics West Conference (http://spie.org/photonics-west.xml) since its inception. He was the familiar face of Isomet for many, many years, and professional and conscientious to the last.

Isomet produces acousto-optic (AO) devices that are used in a wide variety of applications including spectroscopy, graphic arts, semiconductor wafer inspection, military systems, materials processing, and biophotonics. Acousto-optic (AO) devices are crucial to a variety of spectroscopic applications, with compact AO modulators and AO tuneable filters (AOTF) providing high-speed amplitude control of the excitation laser(s). AOTFs have the additional ability to precisely select and combine different lines from a white light source. On the analysis side, imaging AOTFs can be placed prior to the detector and provide high-speed electronically tuneable filters for spectral analysis of sample fluorescence. Isomet is headquartered in Virginia with an operating subsidiary in the United Kingdom. In addition to the main acousto-optic product line, Isomet also offers custom fiber-optic components and custom fabrication/antireflection coating of most optical materials.
