Dublin, Ireland--Optical comb subsystems producer Pilot Photonics has named Dr. Stan Lumish as its chairman and CEO, as well as chairman of its board of directors. Lumish succeeds Dr. Philip Perry, founding CEO, who will remain on the board of directors and return to Dublin City University to pursue optical transmission research.
Pilot Photonics produces optical comb source technology able to deliver the capacity expansion offered by flex-grid and multicarrier systems, explains Lumish. The company will demonstrate its optical comb product line at the ECOC exhibition—which focuses on fiber-optic communications—in Amsterdam in September.
Lumish has over 25 years of experience in the optical networking field, having held leadership positions at AT&T Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and JDSU, the latter of which he served as corporate CTO. Most recently, he spent 18 months working for the United States Department of Defense on economic stabilization efforts for Iraq and Afghanistan. Lumish is also an IEEE Fellow and a Bell Labs Fellow, and has received the Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Department of Defense for his work in Iraq and Afghanistan.
