Edison, NJ and Birkerod, Denmark--HORIBA Scientific has integrated supercontinuum lasers from NKT Photonics into its line of spectrofluorometers.

Edison, NJ and Birkerod, Denmark--The HORIBA Scientific division of HORIBA Instruments Incorporated, manufacturer of fluorescence spectroscopy systems, has integrated the SuperK EXTREME line of white-light, supercontinuum lasers from NKT Photonics A/S (NKT), into its line of spectrofluorometers. The mutually exclusive agreement creates a fully integrated hardware and software system and is the first time that a high-intensity, broad-wavelength-range supercontinuum laser has been seamlessly integrated into a commercial spectrofluorometer.

NKT Photonics CEO Jakob Skov says, "The SuperK EXTREME offers industry leading quality and reliability and, therefore, it was important for us to find an industrial partner with the same focus on quality. As the leading company in fluorescence spectroscopy, HORIBA is the ideal partner for us and with the integration we have realized a system offering the user unmatched performance and reliability."

HORIBA Scientific USA president Steve Slutter says, "The combined systems give users unprecedented capabilities such as high power in the NIR and gap-free wavelength tunability for TCSPC measurements. We are very pleased to be working with NKT Photonics. We were looking for the right partner to help us extend the performance of our class leading products. As the pioneers of this technology and the company with the broadest offerings, NKT was a perfect choice. We were especially impressed with their focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, key HORIBA values as well."

The companies plan to exhibit a sample of the integrated system at the Pittsburgh Conference (PittCON) in Orlando, FL later this month.

NKT Photonics supplies optical fibers and industrial fiber lasers deployed in markets within material processing, bio-photonics, metrology, optical sensors, LIDAR and many others. The products include pulsed lasers, such as supercontinuum sources, ultra low noise DFB lasers and a wide range of specialty fibers.

HORIBA Scientific provides fluorescence spectroscopy and other complete steady-state and lifetime solutions for analytical measurements, research, and industrial applications.
