The new, all-in-one laser combines head and power supply into a single package, making it easy to integrate into machine tools and onto gantry systems. The Mosaic 532-11 laser has short pulse widths (<15 ns), high peak power, and can operate at high repetition rates, resulting in higher throughput, while minimizing undesirable thermal effects. Mosaic lasers feature superior near- and far-field beam-pointing stability and excellent pulse-to-pulse stability for consistent processing results and higher yields. Reliable, highly efficient, and cost-effective, the new Mosaic laser platform is ideal for microelectronics and photovoltaics (PV) manufacturing and other demanding processes that require 24/7 operation. Microelectronics applications include de-paneling or singulating printed circuit boards (PCBs), structuring and ablating materials on PCBs, scribing ceramics, and de-flashing electronic package leads. Key photovoltaic applications include edge isolation of crystalline silicon wafers and scribing P2 and P3 layers on thin film solar panels. “In addition to excellent performance, the Mosaic 532-11 is also an excellent value,” says Tim Edwards, senior marketing manager at Spectra-Physics. “The photovoltaic and microelectronics industries are demanding higher throughput and lower cost laser processing solutions to enable new applications and opportunities. We’ve combined our reliability expertise, application knowledge, and proprietary technologies to develop the Mosaic, a high uptime laser at a fraction of the cost.” Spectra-Physics will premier the mid-power Mosaic 532 -11 Q-switched industrial laser during SPIE’s Photonics West, January 25-27, 2011, at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA. Please visit Newport’s South Hall booth #1301 for a demonstration. For more information on the new Mosaic 532-11 laser, go to www.newport.com/mosaic.
