Vuzix is assisting people in the low-vision community with M100 Smart Glasses paired with visual aid software from CyberTimez.

Smart glasses, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) technology provider Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI; Rochester, NY) is assisting people in the low-vision and blind community with M100 Smart Glasses paired with visual aid software from CyberTimez (Crystal City, VA). CyberTimez focuses on automating the Internet of Things (IoT) using wearable devices such as smart glasses (also called head-up or head-worn displays) and watches.

CyberTimez says its technology aids people by magnifying and reading text using Cyber Eyez, an application that has the ability to enable low-vision and blind users to magnify anything in their environment up to 15 times. The application can also read text in more than 100 languages without a connection to the Internet. In addition to Cyber Eyez, several other vision adding applications are pre-installed on Vuzix M100 smart glasses including email, calendar, and maps, as well as the M100 audio recorder and bar code scanning apps.

Leveraging funding provided by the DC Center for Independent Living (DCCIL), Vuzix and CyberTimez will begin to equip 18 local area residents with M100 Smart Glasses to help improve their mobility and enable them to read text. Last month, CyberTimez also showcased the M100 enabled with its technology at the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center in Washington, DC.

"This is just one instance of how Vuzix technology is helping people of all kinds improve their lives," said Paul Travers, president and CEO at Vuzix. "We believe that technology can enhance and improve the lives of many people and we are proud to be able to contribute in this way."

"We are very excited about how we can assist people in the low vision and blind communities," added Sean Tibbetts, CEO and co-founder of CyberTimez. "With our software, the M100 is enhancing people's lives, enabling people to resume their daily tasks and regain their independence."
