Extending into North American IR spectroscopy market, Xenics and Laser Components enter into partnership

Xenics and Laser Components have signed an agreement that further extends Xenics into the North American IR spectroscopy market.

Xenics USA (Beverly, MA), which covers the full spectral range of the company's advanced infrared (IR) imagers, cores, and cameras, has entered into an exclusive distribution partnership with Laser Components USA (Bedford, NH). Under the terms of the agreement, Laser Components USA will sell and market Xenics' shortwave infrared (SWIR) line-scan imagers with rectangular pixels, further extending Xenics into the North American IR spectroscopy market. The agreement was jointly signed on February 12, 2016, at SPIE Photonics West (San Francisco, CA).

Laser Components USA offers products manufactured by the Laser Components Group (Olching, Germany), such as indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) PIN photodiodes, lead sulfide (PbS) and lead selenide (PbSe) detectors, pyroelectric detectors, laser modules, single-photon-counting modules, laser diodes, and laser optics, and acts as a distributor for U.S.-, Asian-, and European-based companies in this field. The company will add Xenics' Xlin-R series to their distribution product line to complement their own line of IR detectors.

The Xlin-R SWIR line-scan imager offers resolution up to 2048 pixels and is sensitive between 0.9 and 1.7 µm. The rectangular pixel architecture delivers higher sensitivity for SWIR reflectance spectroscopy and medical optical coherence tomography (OCT) at 1.3 µm. Applications for these imagers can be found in the telecom industry, the medical and chemical sector, and in low-light-level applications such as Raman, emission, and luminescence spectroscopy. A key characteristic of the imager is a large variety of gain settings for specific application optimization.
