Advanced materials company Pixelligent Technologies was selected for a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) solid-state-lighting award to support the continued development of its organic light-emitting diode (OLED) lighting application. Pixelligent and its partner OLEDWorks were selected as one of only nine awardees nationwide for this $1.25 million dollar DOE award.

The goal of this project is to develop a novel internal light-extraction design that improves the light-extraction efficiency of OLED lighting devices by more than 200%, without negatively impacting the device voltage, efficacy, or angular color dependence.
