Dresden, Germany -- A new Fraunhofer Institute, the Fraunhofer COMEDD, has been opened in Dresden, Germany.

Dresden, Germany -- A new Fraunhofer Institute, the Fraunhofer COMEDD, has been opened in Dresden, Germany. Fraunhofer COMEDD was formerly the Institute of COMEDD (Center for Organic Materials and Electronic Devices Dresden) of the Fraunhofer IPMS.

Prof. Karl Leo, director of the new Fraunhofer COMEDD, is confident that through this foundation, further work on more effective organic light-emitting diodes and solar cells is possible.

Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) as a surface lighting elements and organic solar cells as mobile energy sources in everyday life will soon be obvious. OLED microdisplays in microchips for interactive data goggles and sensor solutions can revolutionize the world of optoelectronics.

About Fraunhofer COMEDD:
Fraunhofer COMEDD was established as a separate establishment of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, to convert the results of research on organic semiconductor materials and systems into production. The facility combines research and development activities for the production, technology development and integration of electronic devices based on organic semiconductors. The mission of Fraunhofer COMEDD is the customer-and application-specific research, development and pilot production of novel device concepts and manufacturing methods for these organic materials. Fraunhofer COMEDD embodies a leading European production-related research and development center for organic semiconductors with a thematic focus on organic light-emitting diodes and vacuum technologies.
