Leoni completes acquisition of specialty optical fiber maker j-fiber

Nuremberg, Germany--Leoni, a provider of cables and cable systems to the automotive sector and other industries, has acquired the remainder of j-fiber, completing its 2007 acquistion of 51% of the specialty fiber maker.

Nuremberg, Germany--Leoni, a provider of cables and cable systems to the automotive sector and other industries, has acquired the remainder of j-fiber (Jena, Germany), completing its 2007 acquistion of 51% of the specialty fiber maker. j-fiber manufactures glass fibers, preforms, and quartz glass materials for telecommunication and data communication applications and special industrial fields.

“The product and service portfolios of the two enterprises perfectly complement each other," says Andreas Weinert, vice president of the business unit for fiber optics at Leoni. "Together we will further pursue our strategy to provide sustainable solutions to our customer’s problems using innovative technologies.”

Leoni operates worldwide, providing wires, optical fibers, cables, and cable systems, as well as related services for the automotive sector and other industries. The group of companies are listed in the German MDAX index and employs more than 59,000 people in 33 countries, generating consolidated sales of EUR 2.96 billion in 2010.
