Ditzingen, Germany--This past fiscal year (ending in June), the Trumpf Group recorded sales of 2.025 billion Euros (2.907 billion U.S. dollars) -- the second most successful year in its history, according to the company. The figure was a 51% increase over the previous fiscal year's sales of 1.340 billion Euros (1.924 billion dollars). In addition, the number of employees at Trumpf rose to 8550. One of the Trumpf Group's divisions is the Laser Technology/Electronics division, which makes high-power industrial lasers such as disk lasers and carbon dioxide lasers.

"We succeeded in closing the gap to the record earnings posted before the financial crisis," said company president Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller in presenting the preliminary figures. "In view of the fact that the worldwide financial crisis brought the German manufacturing industry to its knees, these preliminary sales figures are good news." In fiscal year 2007 to 2008, Trumpf's sales reached 2.144 billion Euros (3.078 billion dollars).

"We experienced strong growth the last 12 months and ended our fiscal year better than projected," said Trumpf's CEO Rolf Biekert, commenting on the company’s performance in North America.

For the 2010/2011 fiscal year, Trumpf's orders received reached 2.22 billion Euros (3.187 billion dollars), exceeding the 2.15 billion Euros (3.087 billion dollars) posted for the pre-crisis benchmark year 2007/2008. "We are expecting profits to hit triple digits in the millions," added Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller.

Trumpf will announce its final figures at its annual press conference on October 19, 2011.
