Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ: ZIGO) received an order from a "major medical device manufacturer" to make high-precision objective-lens assemblies for ophthalmic laser surgery.

Middlefield, CT--Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ: ZIGO) received an order from a "major medical device manufacturer" to make high-precision objective-lens assemblies for ophthalmic laser surgery. The multimillion-dollar order that Zygo's Optical Systems Division received is part of a new customer program in which optical assemblies will be developed by Zygo's Electro-Optics group (Costa Mesa, CA) and manufactured at the Electro-Optics group's facility in Tucson, Arizona.

"This program award is affirmation of our strengths in design and manufacturing of high-precision objective lenses for use in advanced medical devices, as well as our ability to meet strict FDA guidelines and protocols," said John Stack, president of the Optical Systems Division.

Zygo Corporation supplies interferometers and other optical-metrology instruments, precision optics, and electro-optical design and manufacturing services for the semiconductor capital equipment, biomedical, scientific, and industrial markets.
