Picoprojector contest from Syndiant wants your creative, cool ideas

Dallas, TX--Syndiant, a manufacturer of high-resolution microdisplays for picoprojectors, is holding a contest to explore creative ideas and uses for picoprojectors, which are forecast to reach 142 million units by 2018. Syndiant says its all-digital VueG8 (View-Gate) technology frees consumers from the constraints of small electronic devices and provides a viewing gateway to share high-resolution images.

The uses and applications of picoprojectors are endless, and Syndiant is eager to see the creative ideas that techies, gadget gurus or college engineering students have up their sleeves. For inspiration, they are asking people to consider applications in the following areas:
--Automobiles
--Airplanes
--Smart appliances for anywhere in the home
--Healthcare
--Aids to the visually impaired or elderly
--Security/defense
--Toys
--Robotics
--Education (teachers--get your students thinking!)
--3D
--Near-to-eye glasses, either 2D or 3D, with see-through or non-see-through image
--Combined with a gesture-recognition user interface
--Decorative lighting
--Wireless update of video content

"We have produced some very cool applications for pico projectors at Syndiant, but we thought it would be fun to see what individuals and the next generation of engineers can come up with," said Mark Harward, CEO of Syndiant. "We hope to receive many unique ideas, which will make it a challenge to decide who submits the coolest application for pico projectors, but I think we’re up to the task."

If an individual submits the winning "cool" idea, as determined by the Syndiant executive team, he or she will receive an iPad, and an individual runner up will receive an iPod nano. In the event that a college engineering class or team submits the winning "coolest" idea or runner up idea, a monetary donation will be made to their college’s engineering department.

Entries need to sufficiently and completely describe in writing the idea and its use. Graphic renderings and drawings can be submitted with the entry to more fully explain the concept. The contest starts November 9, 2010 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern on December 15, 2010. Winners will be announced during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas January 6-9, 2011, and do not need to be present to win. Prizes will be shipped to winners.
