Shasta Crystals awarded NSF SBIR grant for nonlinear crystal development

Anderson, CA--The NSF awarded Shasta Crystals $493,883 for an SBIR Phase 2 project to develop nonlinear crystals for projection laser light sources.

Anderson, CA--Shasta Crystals announced that it has been awarded $493,883 from the National Science Foundation for the Phase 2 project entitled: "Low Cost High Quality Nonlinear Optical Crystals for Laser Light Sources for Miniature Projectors."

"Being awarded the second Phase of this grant is excellent validation from the NSF that our technology has the potential to expand into a high volume manufacturing process," said Gisele Maxwell, Shasta Crystals' founder and CEO. Maxwell continued, "The purpose of this next phase of the grant is to demonstrate that we can make commercial quantities of these crystals at a very competitive price point."

Shasta Crystals is a crystal growth company located in Northern California. Its crystal growth technology allows the production of a wide variety of crystal products. Products include nonlinear optical crystals for visible lasers, YAG for infrared lasers, and custom materials upon request. The Company says it was founded on the basis of proprietary technological breakthroughs that decrease process time, improve crystal quality, and lower the cost of production.
