Mercerville, NJ--Laser Energetics, Inc. has awarded a $2.6 million contract to General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products (Charlotte, NC) for production of its Dazer Laser products.

Mercerville, NJ--Laser Energetics, Inc. has awarded a $2.6 million contract to General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products (Charlotte, NC), a business unit of General Dynamics, for the manufacture of Laser Energetics' Dazer Laser product line. The Dazer Laser is designed for use by military and law enforcement entities when non-lethal force is an option. The device's continuous wave and modulating green laser beam temporarily impairs a threat's vision and awareness in an instant.

According to the company the product line currently consists of the Guardian and Defender models--which operate on standard batteries, are lightweight and ergonomically comfortable--and is differentiated by a patented variable-range laser that allows for effective use at distances from 1 to 2,400 meters (model dependent).

"This is one of the most important business developments in the history of our company," stated Robert D. Battis, Founder and CEO of Laser Energetics. "It's rare that a company of our size has the privilege to partner with a leading defense company like General Dynamics. Most importantly for shareholders, Laser Energetics no longer has to establish our own manufacturing facility for the Dazer Laser. This is a huge benefit to shareholders and the Company in several ways. Laser Energetics will not have to raise millions of dollars on a dilutive basis to build out the high-quality production line that exists at General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, and we will be able to ramp up production in lock-step with sales, helping to ensure our ability to meet customer demand in a timely fashion." Battis continued, "This manufacturing relationship will enable Laser Energetics to close sales with militaries and law enforcement agencies in the US and around the world much faster."

According to Bill Gural, vice president and general manager of Detection Systems for General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, "These safe, non-lethal hand held systems can effectively stop hostile operations in a variety of environments and can be used in both counterterrorism and security applications." Work will be performed at General Dynamic's production facility in Charlotte, N.C., and is expected to begin this month. "This award is a great foundation for building on our relationship with Laser Energetics," said Gural.
