Award for laser physics offered by Germany foundation

The Bertold Leibinger Stiftung (Ditzingen, Germany), an institution founded in 1992 to foster science and research, has created the Bertold Leibinger Innovationspreis, which will be awarded every two years. The prize is awarded for outstanding work into applied laser physics in production technology. The prize money of 35,000 Euros will be shared by three winners who will receive 20,000, 10,000, and 5000 Euros; awards will first be given in November 2000. The prize's namesake, Bertold Leibinger, pioneered materials processing with lasers in the 1970s.—John Wallace
